Ampersand is Africa’s emobility pioneer. Ampersand provides electric motorcycles and charging infrastructure (battery swap stations), uniquely tailored to serve half of Africa’s road fleet: Commercial motorcycle taxi and delivery drivers. Moto taxis are a primary means of public transport in African cities, and it is estimated that these drivers spend >$6Bn p.a. on gasoline in East Africa alone. Ampersand has developed an electric solution that is more powerful, fun to drive, and cost-effective than the incumbent. Ampersand drivers routinely earn over 45% more income by going electric.

The company started in Kigali, Rwanda, and expanded into Nairobi, Kenya in 2022. Today it has around 5,000 e-motorcycles on the road and 58 battery swap stations across the two countries. About the role

The Charging Station Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of Charging Stations, overseeing regular Charging Station Attendants (CSAs) and team leads to deliver quality service to our clients. This leadership position involves a combination of operational oversight, team management, and client satisfaction

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Management:

  • Organize and plan shifts for station attendants and team leads, considering factors such as sick leaves, emergency leaves, and holidays to ensure continuous station operations.
  • Oversee and maintain the cleanliness of charging stations, ensuring they are well-maintained and presentable.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for both station attendants and team leads on any new feature in the swap process & mechanism to enhance their skills and keep them updated on operational procedures.
  • Suggest improvement to streamline the battery swap process, making it efficient and effective for both station operators and customers.

Communication and Reporting

  • Maintain regular communication with station attendants and team leads, fostering a collaborative and informed work environment.
  • Collect daily reports on station status from attendants and ensure accurate recording into company platforms for performance tracking.
  • Interact and communicate daily with colleagues, managers either on phone or in person
  • Organize routine meetings with charging station operators to address updates, challenges, and collaborate on solutions.
  • Provide regular status updates, data analysis and proactive team management ideas
  • Attend weekly department meetings with managers to discuss challenges, updates, and contribute to strategic solutions.
  • Collect data on the charging stations utilization
  • Record the demand from each station

Performance Commitment:

  • Commit to achieving and surpassing department KPIs and aligning efforts with overall company KPIs.
  • Proactively recommending improvements to swap revenue collection through continuous process monitoring and active involvement in transaction and revenue reconciliation processes.
  • Be actively involved in the recruitment process of skilled and talented charging station attendants and team leads.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for station attendants and leads, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.

Security, health and Safety

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the security of charging stations and protect station operators.
  • Ensure the safety of female station attendants, creating a secure environment free from any form of violence.
  • Prioritize and ensure the physical and mental well-being of all charging station operators.

Logistics Management:

  • Manage logistics to ensure stations are equipped with necessary tools and uniforms for operators.
  • Ensure operators receive their allowances in a timely manner.

Customer centric orientation:

  • Supervise charging station attendants and team leads to ensure they provide quality service to clients.
  • Visiting charging stations regularly, collecting and escalating operations feedback if any.
  • Consistent follow-up with relevant departments on the resolution of raised charging stations as well as client specific issue tickets.

Minimum requirements

  • Educational Background: Hold a bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, social sciences, or related subjects.
  • Work Experience: Possess a high school certificate with three or more years of work experience in the EV industry, especially in battery swap operations.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrate computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Sales-Driven Mindset: Approach responsibilities with a sales-driven mindset, focusing on achieving targets and driving business success.
